This paper details the building blocks of an integrated eHealth solution prototype for ECG examinations. The proposed solution is composed of a custom smartphone-based Bluetooth® electrocardiograph together with its companion app, and a set frontend and backend services deployed in the cloud allowing the definition of role-based collaborative workflows in a modern web-based environment. The aim of the discussion is to provide an insight on both the hardware and software design choices and trade-offs, as well as on the vision that inspired their implementation.

Abstract

This paper details the building blocks of an integrated eHealth solution prototype for ECG examinations. The proposed solution is composed of a custom smartphone-based Bluetooth® electrocardiograph together with its companion app, and a set frontend and backend services deployed in the cloud allowing the definition of role-based collaborative workflows in a modern web-based environment. The aim of the discussion is to provide an insight on both the hardware and software design choices and trade-offs, as well as on the vision that inspired their implementation.
