This paper develops a decision making tool to support the public decision maker in selecting the optimal energy retrofit interventions on an existing street lighting system. The problem statement is based on a quadratic integer programming formulation and deals with simultaneously reducing the energy consumption and ensuring an optimal allocation of the retrofit actions among the street lighting subsystems. The methodology is applied to a real street lighting system in Bari, Italy. The obtained results demonstrate that the approach effectively supports the city governance in making decisions for the optimal energy management of the street lighting.

Abstract
This paper develops a decision making tool to support the public decision maker in selecting the optimal energy retrofit interventions on an existing street lighting system. The problem statement is based on a quadratic integer programming formulation and deals with simultaneously reducing the energy consumption and ensuring an optimal allocation of the retrofit actions among the street lighting subsystems. The methodology is applied to a real street lighting system in Bari, Italy. The obtained results demonstrate that the approach effectively supports the city governance in making decisions for the optimal energy management of the street lighting.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
