In the present paper, the dynamic behaviour of a rolling isolation system composed of cylinders moving in between two rubber layers is studied by mean of characterization tests. The device reduces seismic energy both by decoupling the motion of the structure from the base and by the presence of rubber (or neoprene) supposed with a viscoelastic behaviour. From a preliminary design it has been determined the appropriate dimensions of the device and the details to link the device to the testing equipment. Considerations have been drawn from the tests results on the behaviour and the efficacy of this new device.

Abstract
In the present paper, the dynamic behaviour of a rolling isolation system composed of cylinders moving in between two rubber layers is studied by mean of characterization tests. The device reduces seismic energy both by decoupling the motion of the structure from the base and by the presence of rubber (or neoprene) supposed with a viscoelastic behaviour. From a preliminary design it has been determined the appropriate dimensions of the device and the details to link the device to the testing equipment. Considerations have been drawn from the tests results on the behaviour and the efficacy of this new device.File in questo prodotto:
