This paperis focused on a CHB composed by a large number of cells(more than three) operated in general with unequal dc voltages.Under this circumstance, the output voltage spectrum presentshigh harmonic distortion at twice the carrier frequency and itsmultiples. In order to analyze this phenomenon, a harmonicdistortion analysis of the CHB output voltage is presented.From this mathematical analysis, a modification of the phase-shifted PWM modulation is proposed in order to obtain a betterharmonic performance
