Photonic switches are currently an emerging research topic in the field of satellite payload based on the use of photonic solutions. In this paper, we briefly review the state-of-the-art of silicon photonic switching configurations with a specific emphasis on their potential in large matrices with performance compliant to the needs of flexible and broadband operation of new generation telecom payloads.

Abstract
Photonic switches are currently an emerging research topic in the field of satellite payload based on the use of photonic solutions. In this paper, we briefly review the state-of-the-art of silicon photonic switching configurations with a specific emphasis on their potential in large matrices with performance compliant to the needs of flexible and broadband operation of new generation telecom payloads.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
