Abstract

Photonic switches are currently an emerging research topic in the field of satellite payload based on the use of photonic solutions. In this paper, we briefly review the state-of-the-art of silicon photonic switching configurations with a specific emphasis on their potential in large matrices with performance compliant to the needs of flexible and broadband operation of new generation telecom payloads.
