This thesis investigates the applicability of the Internet of Things in industrial scenarios. At the same time, the work embraces several new themes, spanning from indoor localization to drones in Intelligent Transportation Systems, from Bluetooth Low Energy to cellular networks. Further, it pictures the evolutionary potential of the Internet of Things while arguing what/how can be ameliorated. A systematic discussion is conducted about the details of the proposed approaches and innovations in each reference scenarios. In the end, the discussion moves to the design and implementation of Robotics-aided Industrial Internet of Things solution, with a focus on the main contributions in terms of decentralized scheduling and automated deployment of self-organizing Internet of Things networks.

Abstract
This thesis investigates the applicability of the Internet of Things in industrial scenarios. At the same time, the work embraces several new themes, spanning from indoor localization to drones in Intelligent Transportation Systems, from Bluetooth Low Energy to cellular networks. Further, it pictures the evolutionary potential of the Internet of Things while arguing what/how can be ameliorated. A systematic discussion is conducted about the details of the proposed approaches and innovations in each reference scenarios. In the end, the discussion moves to the design and implementation of Robotics-aided Industrial Internet of Things solution, with a focus on the main contributions in terms of decentralized scheduling and automated deployment of self-organizing Internet of Things networks.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
