In this paper, an aluminum specimen was loaded in a three-point bending loading frame in order to generate a known stress distribution. Finite element model was implemented in order to completely describe the stress field on the specimen. Successively Hole Drilling Method (HDM) measurements were performed and strain results were elaborated both by Integral and Power Series methods. Finally, the evaluated residual stresses were compared with the finite element model stress distribution in order to critically discuss differences between methodologies.

Abstract
In this paper, an aluminum specimen was loaded in a three-point bending loading frame in order to generate a known stress distribution. Finite element model was implemented in order to completely describe the stress field on the specimen. Successively Hole Drilling Method (HDM) measurements were performed and strain results were elaborated both by Integral and Power Series methods. Finally, the evaluated residual stresses were compared with the finite element model stress distribution in order to critically discuss differences between methodologies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
