Xylella fastidiosa (Xf) is a bacterial phytopathogen associated with serious diseases affecting a wide variety of plants; in olive trees, it causes a rapiddrying of the plants and represents a serious threat to their survival. The paper describes a new segmentation algorithm of high-resolution multispectral images acquired using a multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) purposely equipped for fast detection of Xf symptoms in olive trees. The experimental results obtained by flying over olive groves show a high similarity coefficient which ensures the correct identification of infected trees with a reduced number of false positives and false negatives.
