The field of Cultural Heritage, and specifically the architectural one, is undergoing a digital transition that is being fueled by a trend toward cutting-edge techniques and technologies that permit both the optimisation and management of the data acquisition process in accordance with user needs, as well as the digitisation, conservation, and enhancement of artefacts. This work is the outcome of ongoing efforts to adopt a single protocol that was tested during the architectural survey of the All Saints’ Church of Cuti in Valenzano, an abbey with a typical 11th-century Benedictine-monastic layout. The combination of data from various measurement technologies (laser scanning, photogrammetry, GNSS), as well as their management during the processing phases, were made possible by developing a Scan-to-BIM methodology – the drafting stages being preceded by a careful and conscious planning of the survey, with the aim of operating in complete safety in the work site. Processes such as subsampling, georeferencing with Ground Control Points, and automatic point cloud segmentation using model-fitting algorithms have been found to be a significant and reliable support for parametric modelling in HBIM, satisfying the pre-assigned requirements for geometrical and informational quality.
