The distinguishing feature of Italian housing is the high percentage of owned houses. The housing market often considers renting as a marginal and emergency solution. However, nowadays, changes in the job context and in family units, as well as the increase in migration flows, are among the factors that make the purchase of a dwelling increasingly “inconvenient”. Aim of this contribution is to rethink renting as an opportunity to respond to new housing needs and new urban challenges through the analysis of Italian good practices.

Abstract
The distinguishing feature of Italian housing is the high percentage of owned houses. The housing market often considers renting as a marginal and emergency solution. However, nowadays, changes in the job context and in family units, as well as the increase in migration flows, are among the factors that make the purchase of a dwelling increasingly “inconvenient”. Aim of this contribution is to rethink renting as an opportunity to respond to new housing needs and new urban challenges through the analysis of Italian good practices.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
