An enantioselective synthesis of four 2-methyl-3,6-divinyltetrahydropyrans (MTHP's) by homogeneous Pd-catalyzed telomerization of butadiene with acetaldehyde is described. Enantiomeric excesses (ee) up to 77% are observed. The hydrogenation of MTHP's under mild conditions is also reported.
