This article examines the historical significance of Sicilian rural villages, focusing on Borgo Pasquale, and highlights the importance of preserving their heritage through adaptive reuse principles. These villages, built during the land reforms of the mid-20th century, embody the architectural and cultural narratives of that era. The neglect and degradation of Borgo Pasquale highlight the urgent need for strategic interventions to revitalize these sites. By applying adaptive reuse strategies, we can repurpose these buildings to meet contemporary needs while respecting their historical context. The article proposes a new approach to the theme of the project through the formulation of 5 adaptive reuse strategies developed within the Architectural Design 3 course at the University of Palermo, constituting a degree of innovation in the way of dealing with project issues, aimed at the spatial and fun- ctional reorganization of Borgo Pasquale. These solutions include transforming the village into a hub for slow and sustainable tourism, integrating residential and community spaces, and improving connections to the surrounding landscape. Each proposal emphasizes maintaining the architectural integrity and ecological balance of the village, promoting sustainable development and cultural preservation. By reinventing the potential of Borgo Pasquale, these projects aim to transform it into a vibrant and functional space that honors its historical significance while serving modern purposes. This approach not only conserves architectural heritage, but also promotes community engagement and sustainable rural development, ensuring that these historic sites remain relevant and dynamic in the contemporary era.

Abstract
This approach not only conserves architectural heritage, but also promotes community engagement and sustainable rural development, ensuring that these historic sites remain relevant and dynamic in the contemporary era.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
