Integration and coordination of multiple energy resources allow to achieve higher goals in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. The objective of the proposed study is to assess the role that these hydrogen-based technologies can have in the fulfillment of short-term Net-Zero Energy targets in a multi-energy system. Test results are obtained considering the formulation and solution of an optimal control problem aimed at reducing energy imports, thereby maximizing self-sufficiency and self-consumption indices. Results are shown for the case of a large education building, considering real measurements of electricity and thermal demand.

Abstract

Integration and coordination of multiple energy resources allow to achieve higher goals in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. The objective of the proposed study is to assess the role that these hydrogen-based technologies can have in the fulfillment of short-term Net-Zero Energy targets in a multi-energy system. Test results are obtained considering the formulation and solution of an optimal control problem aimed at reducing energy imports, thereby maximizing self-sufficiency and self-consumption indices. Results are shown for the case of a large education building, considering real measurements of electricity and thermal demand.
