Feedforward grid-forming converters are a particular class of grid-forming controls including a feedforward control action. The feedforward terms grant an enhancement of the synchronization capabilities, but at the same time cause a reduction of the inertial capabilities offered by the grid-forming converter. The paper presents a novel adaptive feedforward grid-forming control, which is specifically designed to preserve the inertial capabilities of grid-forming controls without feedforward terms, and at the same time to ensure the damping capabilities provided by the feedforward grid-forming converters to the system.
