In this paper it is described a new algorithm for the real time detection of the cardiac Ventricular Late Potentials (VLPs) and the design of an FPGA-based device for its implementation. To this aim the electrocardiografic (ECG) signal is recorded in high resolution (HRECG) and the real time signal processing is performed in order to detect the VLPs by using an FPGA. In this way, it is possible to design a complete miniaturized and wearable, new generation electrocardiograph able to record and process the HRECG signal and having advanced diagnostic capabilities. It may be very useful for telemedicine purposes, also. The project this paper deals with, is involved in the Altera Innovate Europe Design Contests 2015.
