With the aim of complying to the global energy transition targets, the usage of energy storage systems is constantly increasing for their several applications in combination with renewable energy sources, in both small-scale and large-scale grids, and for electrification of transport (electric vehicle adoption). Though, its widespread arises issues especially related to retirement rates and costs, which could reveal them not affordable for applications in developing countries. In order to meet energy demand and economic saving, electric vehicle battery repurpose is a viable option for power supply. This paper aims at investigating second-life batteries usage for energy access microgrid application in developing country context and its impact on energy and cost savings in comparison with new storage system adoption.

Abstract
With the aim of complying to the global energy transition targets, the usage of energy storage systems is constantly increasing for their several applications in combination with renewable energy sources, in both small-scale and large-scale grids, and for electrification of transport (electric vehicle adoption). Though, its widespread arises issues especially related to retirement rates and costs, which could reveal them not affordable for applications in developing countries. In order to meet energy demand and economic saving, electric vehicle battery repurpose is a viable option for power supply. This paper aims at investigating second-life batteries usage for energy access microgrid application in developing country context and its impact on energy and cost savings in comparison with new storage system adoption.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
