This paper focuses on the description of standard and repeatable tests performed at the Nard Technical Center (NTC) in Nard (Lecce - Italy) to investigate the side dynamics of an articulated vehicle carrying liquid. Comparisons between three different kinds of mechanical models and test results are presented. Results show that the dynamical interaction between liquid and rigid cargo is considerably influenced by the type of manoeuvre performed and the sharpness of the steering inputs applied.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the description of standard and repeatable tests performed at the Nard Technical Center (NTC) in Nard (Lecce - Italy) to investigate the side dynamics of an articulated vehicle carrying liquid. Comparisons between three different kinds of mechanical models and test results are presented. Results show that the dynamical interaction between liquid and rigid cargo is considerably influenced by the type of manoeuvre performed and the sharpness of the steering inputs applied.
